Dr. Hohl went to medical school at Columbia University in New York City, followed by an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his training at the University of Utah with a combined orthopedic and neurosurgical spine fellowship. His undergraduate studied were in neuroscience at Brigham Young University. He lives in Salt Lake City with his wife and four children. 

Dr. Hohl specializes in cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgery, addressing degenerative (arthritic) conditions., trauma ,tumor, and scoliosis. When appropriate, he employs minimally invasive and microscopic spine surgery techniques. He has authored more than 20 scientific articles and book chapters that address various clinical and surgical conditions of the spine.
